Mongla, Feb 12 (V7N) -BNP candidate Lion Dr. Sheikh Faridul Islam cast his vote at 7:30 am on Thursday at the Islamabad Siddiqia Fazil Madrasa polling centre in Rampal, Bagerhat-3 (Mongla-Rampal) constituency.
Standing in line with other voters, Dr. Faridul exercised his franchise shortly after polling began. Speaking to reporters after voting, he expressed optimism about the overall environment.
“I voted early in the morning. I believe everyone will be able to vote in a beautiful and festive atmosphere,” he said.
Referring to his party’s political agenda, he said BNP’s vision for the country, presented by its Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman, has received positive responses.
However, the BNP candidate also voiced concern over reports of alleged distribution of illicit funds in parts of Mongla and Rampal ahead of polling. He called on law enforcement agencies and the administration to ensure a level playing field and maintain a fair voting environment.
Meanwhile, Jamaat-e-Islami candidate Advocate Maulana Sheikh Abdul Wadud, contesting with the scales symbol, also cast his vote at 7:30 am at the Sonakur Government Primary School polling centre in Rampal.
Polling centres across Mongla-Rampal saw a steady turnout from early morning, with voters forming queues even before gates opened. Long lines of men and women were observed throughout the morning, with election officials reporting a peaceful and orderly atmosphere.
