PABNA, Feb 10, (V7N)– Two people were killed and at least 10 others injured in a head-on collision between two passenger buses on the Pabna–Dhaka highway in Sholabaria area of Santhia upazila on Tuesday morning.
The accident occurred at around 7:15am near Sholabaria Bridge under Ataikula Police Station, said Madhpur Highway Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mustafizur Rahman, confirming the incident.
According to police, a Shahjadpur Travels bus was heading towards Dhaka from Pabna when it collided head-on with a Maasranga Transport bus coming from the opposite direction. One person died on the spot, while the injured were rescued by police and local people and taken to different hospitals. Another victim later succumbed to injuries at Pabna General Hospital.
OC Mustafizur Rahman said the identities of the deceased and injured could not be confirmed immediately. However, one of the deceased was the driver of Shahjadpur Travels, while the other was a helper of Maasranga Transport.
At least 7 to 8 injured passengers are reported to be in critical condition and are undergoing treatment at hospitals.
Police said further details would be available after verification.
