Mongla, Bagerhat, May 17 (V7N)- Home Affairs Advisor Lieutenant General Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has inaugurated the newly constructed boat workshop and slipway at Coast Guard Base Mongla, under the Bangladesh Coast Guard West Zone, through a formal ceremony.
Coast Guard Media Officer Lieutenant Commander Harun-or-Rashid informed journalists about this event via a press release on Saturday afternoon.
The inauguration was attended by Md. Jasim Uddin Khan, Joint Secretary of the Public Security Division of the Ministry of Home Affairs; Rear Admiral Md. Ziaul Haque, Director General of Bangladesh Coast Guard; Major General Mohammad Ashrafuzzaman Siddiqui, Director General of Border Guard Bangladesh; and secretaries from various ministries, as well as high-ranking officials from the Bangladesh Navy, Naval Police, Forest Department, and Mongla Port.
Lieutenant Commander Abid Bin Manzur welcomed the chief guest and provided a brief address, noting that the foundation stone for this project was laid on January 11th of the previous year. He explained that the state-of-the-art boat workshop and slipway can accommodate boats up to 20 meters in length and is equipped to handle all types of repair work.
He emphasized that this facility is the sole establishment of its kind in the Coast Guard's West Zone and is anticipated to play a crucial role in the repair of vessels belonging to the Coast Guard, Bangladesh Navy, Border Guard Bangladesh, Mongla Port, Naval Police, Forest Department, and BIWTA in the future.
Lieutenant Commander Harun-or-Rashid further stated that this development will be considered another significant milestone in enhancing the capacity and quality of services provided by the Bangladesh Coast Guard.
Following the addresses, the Home Affairs Advisor officially unveiled the name plaques of the newly constructed boat workshop and slipway.
