Mongla, May 16 (V7N) - A woman in Mongla has reported being repeatedly raped for two months under various pretenses and intimidation. Following a case filed at the police station on Thursday night, police conducted a raid and arrested the accused young man, Shafiqul Islam Titu, from his home in Kanainagar village under Chandpai Union.
Mongla Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md. Anisur Rahman stated that the 30-year-old victim lived alone in a rented house owned by Nurul Amin in Kainmari village. During this time, the homeowner's younger brother, Titu, allegedly raped her multiple times by threatening and luring her. After the latest incident of rape on Thursday, the woman filed a case at the police station. The arrested youth was sent to jail via the Bagerhat court on Friday afternoon.
In other news, police in Mongla also arrested a drug dealer named Liakat Khan from the Digraj Bamboo Market area in the early hours of Friday, seizing 2 kilograms of cannabis in his possession.
