Dhaka, Mar 05 (V7N) – The High Court Division has granted bail to journalist Anis Alamgir in a case filed under the Anti-Terrorism Act.

The order was passed on Thursday by a High Court bench comprising Justice KM Zahid Sarwar and Justice Sheikh Abu Taher, which declared the rule issued in response to the bail application valid.

Lawyer Tamanna Ferdous represented Anis Alamgir in court during the hearing.

Earlier, the Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge's Court had rejected Anis Alamgir’s bail on January 22, following which he remained in jail since December last year in connection with a case registered at Uttara Paschim Police Station in Dhaka.

With the High Court’s decision, Anis Alamgir has now been temporarily released on bail while the case proceeds.
