Dhaka, Feb 26 (V7N) — The High Court has granted six months’ bail to former lawmaker Abdur Rahman Bodi in a murder case linked to the July–August 2014 student-public movement.

A High Court bench comprising Justices Mohammad Kamrul Hossain Mollah and Faisal Hasan Arif issued the order on Thursday (February 26).

Following the fall of the Awami League government during a mass uprising, members of the Rapid Action Battalion arrested Bodi from the Panchlaish area of Chattogram on August 20 of that year. He faces cases of murder and attempted murder over alleged involvement in violence during the movement.

In addition, a case related to the killing of Teknaf councillor Ekram is pending against him at the International Crimes Tribunal.

Bodi previously served as the Member of Parliament for the Cox’s Bazar-4 constituency (Ukhia-Teknaf).
