Dhaka, Feb 07 (V7N)- The appeal of Nahid Islam, candidate of the 11-party alliance and convener of the Jatiya Nagorik Party (NCP), against the dismissal of his writ petition seeking the cancellation of BNP candidate MA Qayyum in Dhaka-11 constituency is scheduled to be heard tomorrow, Sunday, in the Appellate Division.

Nahid Islam had filed the writ petition on February 2, challenging MA Qayyum’s candidacy on charges of dual citizenship and concealment of information. On February 3, the High Court bench of Justice Fahmida Quader and Justice Md. Asif Hasan dismissed the writ petition outright, prompting Nahid Islam to appeal to the Appellate Division on the same day.

Meanwhile, Election Commission Secretary Akhtar Ahmed stated that ballots must reach all constituencies by February 7. He added that if a court order changes the candidate list in any constituency on or after February 8, including withdrawals or cancellations, the Election Commission will cancel all postal votes in that constituency.
