Dhaka, Nov 09 (V7N) — The High Court has granted bail to former Narayanganj City Corporation Mayor Selina Hayat Ivy in five separate cases, including the murder case of garment worker Minarul filed during the student–public movement amid the July mass uprising.

The bench of Justice ASM Abdul Mobin and Justice Sagir Hossain passed the order on Sunday (November 9).

Ivy was arrested from her residence, Chunkakutir, in the Deobhog area of Narayanganj city on May 9. She was produced before the court the same day in connection with a murder case, where the court ordered her to be sent to jail.

Later, on May 27, after a two-day remand in the Minarul murder case, the court again directed that she be returned to jail custody.

With Sunday’s decision, the former mayor is expected to be released, pending completion of the necessary legal procedures.
