Dhaka, June 12 (V7N) — Although clouds have hovered over Dhaka and its surrounding areas since this morning, the Meteorological Department has said there is no chance of rainfall in the capital today.
In a special six-hour bulletin issued at 7 a.m. on Thursday (June 12), the department informed that dry weather is expected to prevail throughout the day. Light winds from the south or southeast may blow at speeds of 10 to 15 kilometers per hour.
According to the forecast, the sky over Dhaka may remain partly cloudy or temporarily overcast. While temperatures may dip slightly, high humidity levels in the air will continue to cause discomfort for residents.
This morning at 6 a.m., the temperature in Dhaka was recorded at 27.8°C with humidity at 87 percent. On Wednesday (June 11), the capital’s maximum temperature was 35.6°C, with today’s lowest at 27.4°C.
The department also confirmed that no rainfall was recorded in Dhaka over the past 24 hours. As a result, despite overcast conditions, residents should not expect any immediate relief from the prevailing heat and humidity.
Officials from the Meteorological Department stated that the monsoon season is approaching, but it has yet to fully arrive in the capital. Some southern regions of the country have started feeling its effects, but monsoon rains have not yet reached Dhaka.
Meanwhile, rain accompanied by thunderstorms may occur in other parts of the country today. Some regions may even experience moderate to heavy rainfall, providing localized relief from the heat.
