Dhaka, Aug 29 (V7N)- Bangladesh Chief Justice Zubair Rahman Chowdhury has said that the use of artificial intelligence (AI) must not undermine or violate the fundamental rights of citizens.
He made the remarks at the inauguration of the AI Governance Summer School organized by the Asiatic Society for Bangladesh on Saturday (August 29).
Addressing the judges present at the event, the Chief Justice stressed the need for a clear legal framework governing the use of AI in Bangladesh.
He said using AI to write judicial judgments is inappropriate, as it could undermine the true purpose and reasoning behind a judgment.
The Chief Justice urged everyone involved to remain cautious about the use of AI so that technological applications do not result in violations of people's fundamental rights.
He also offered various recommendations to the participants of the program regarding responsible AI governance.
Additional Attorney General Anik R. Haque and the Dean of the Department of Law at Dhaka University also spoke at the event. They discussed the growing role of AI in people's daily lives and the importance of responsible use of the technology.
