Dhaka, Jul 15 (V7N)- At least 10 people, including salon workers and customers, sustained burn injuries after an air conditioner reportedly exploded at a salon in the Alu Bazar area of Gulistan in the capital on Tuesday (July 14) night.
The incident occurred at Arman Hair Cutting, where the explosion left customers and staff with varying degrees of burn injuries.
The injured customers were identified as Md. Farooq (35), Rinku (30), Roni (36), Jasim (40), and Rafiq (25). The injured salon workers are Shamshed (30), Raju (34), Pappu (26), Shakib (17), and Arman (37).
According to Dr. Shaon Bin Rahman, Resident Surgeon at the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery, nine of the injured are currently undergoing treatment at the institute.
He said Md. Farooq suffered burns on 50 percent of his body, while Rinku sustained 21 percent burns, Roni 10 percent, Jasim 8 percent and Rafiq 12 percent.
Among the salon workers, Shamshed sustained 15 percent burns, Raju 18 percent, Pappu 18 percent, Shakib 1 percent and Arman 15 percent burns.
Dr. Rahman said Shakib was discharged after receiving first aid, while the remaining nine victims have been admitted to the hospital for further treatment.
The exact cause of the explosion is yet to be determined, and authorities are expected to investigate the incident.
