Rajbari, Jun 05 (V7N)- A bus plunged into the Padma River from a pontoon at Ferry Pier No. 7 of Daulatdia Ferry Ghat in Rajbari on Friday morning.

According to initial reports, no casualties were reported in the incident as the bus was not carrying any passengers at the time of the accident. The driver was rescued alive shortly after the vehicle fell into the river.

Local authorities and rescue personnel rushed to the scene following the incident and began efforts to recover the submerged vehicle. The exact cause of the accident was not immediately known.

Witnesses said the bus fell into the river while positioned near the pontoon at the ferry terminal. Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The accident has revived concerns about safety measures at the country's busiest river crossing points. Earlier, on March 25, another passenger bus fell into the river at Ferry Pier No. 3 of Daulatdia Ferry Ghat.
