Dhaka, May 28 (V7N)- A large-scale cleaning campaign has begun across the capital following the celebration of Eid-ul-Azha, with authorities mobilizing thousands of sanitation workers to ensure quick waste removal after animal sacrifices.
According to city authorities, nearly 29,000 sanitation workers from the two city corporations have been deployed immediately after the sacrifices to clean streets, alleys, major roads, livestock markets, and residential areas across Dhaka.
City-wide waste removal operations
Waste collection activities started early in the day and continued throughout the city, with garbage being transported to ward-based temporary solid waste transfer stations (STSs) before being sent to designated landfills.
Officials confirmed that all leave for workers involved in the cleaning drive has been canceled to ensure uninterrupted operations during the Eid period.
Three-day special campaign
Authorities said the special cleaning program will continue for three consecutive days to fully clear sacrificial waste from the city.
Residents have also been urged to dispose of waste only in designated locations to support the rapid and efficient cleanup process and maintain public health and sanitation standards.
City corporations emphasized that timely waste removal is a key priority during Eid-ul-Azha to prevent environmental pollution and ensure a clean urban environment.
