Rajbari, Apr 29 (V7N) — Ferry and all types of water transport on the Daulatdia–Paturia route have resumed operations after remaining suspended for around two and a half hours due to turbulent conditions on the Padma River.
Normal vessel movement resumed at approximately 9:30 AM on Wednesday after the river conditions improved.
Earlier, authorities suspended ferry services twice as a precaution against possible accidents caused by strong winds. In the first phase, operations were halted from 6:00 AM to 6:30 AM, and in the second phase from 7:30 AM to 9:30 AM. During the suspension periods, several vehicles were stranded at the Daulatdia terminal, causing inconvenience to passengers.
Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation Assistant Manager at Daulatdia terminal, Noor Ahmed, said ferry services resumed after the stormy winds subsided and river conditions returned to normal.
He added that there is currently no significant pressure of vehicles at the Daulatdia end, and the situation is stable.
Authorities have advised river users to remain cautious, as weather conditions in the region remain changeable.
