Dhaka, Apr 08 (V7N) – The High Court of Bangladesh has issued a full judgment directing the government to establish a separate Supreme Court Secretariat within three months. The judgment also restores the Supreme Court’s authority over the promotion, discipline, and control of lower court judges.
Attorney General Ruhul Quddus Kajal announced at a press conference on Wednesday that an appeal will be filed against the High Court judgment in the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court. He added that the activities of the Supreme Court Secretariat will be suspended until the appeal is resolved.
Amicus Curiae Sharif Bhuiyan, representing the court in the case, said that the Appellate Division could issue a final decision and provide clear instructions regarding the Secretariat.
The full copy of the judgment was released last Tuesday, emphasizing that the Secretariat must be established within three months to ensure judicial independence and streamline administrative functions within the Supreme Court.
