Dhaka, Apr 08 (V7N) — The election for 50 reserved seats for women in the 13th National Parliament is scheduled to be held on May 12, according to the Election Commission of Bangladesh.

The election schedule was announced on Wednesday morning at the Election Building by EC Senior Secretary Akhtar Ahmed.

As per the ঘোষিত timetable, the deadline for submission of nomination papers is April 21. The Returning Officer will scrutinize the nominations on April 22 and 23, while appeals against the scrutiny can be filed on April 26. The disposal of appeals will take place on April 27 and 28.

The last date for withdrawal of candidature has been set for April 29, and allocation of election symbols will be conducted on April 30. Nomination papers are to be submitted to the EC Secretariat.

Regarding the distribution of reserved seats among political parties and alliances, the EC Secretary stated that Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and its allies are expected to receive 36 seats.

Meanwhile, the 11-party alliance led by Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami is set to get 13 seats. Additionally, six independent Members of Parliament will jointly receive one reserved seat.
