Tokyo, Mar 14 (V7N) — Iqbal Hassan Mahmud, Bangladesh’s Minister for Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources, is currently visiting Tokyo to participate in the two-day Indo-Pacific Energy Security Ministerial and Business Forum, which began on March 14.
The high-level international forum is jointly organized by the National Energy Dominance Council of the United States and Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry. The event is being hosted by Council Chairman and US Secretary of the Interior Doug Burgum, Vice Chairman and US Secretary of Energy Chris Wright, and Japan’s Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Ryosei Akazawa.
In addition to Bangladesh, energy ministers from several Indo-Pacific nations are participating in the conference, including Australia, New Zealand, South Korea, and Southeast Asian countries such as Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Timor-Leste and Vietnam.
During the forum, ministers will discuss strategies for building a strong and stable energy system across the Indo-Pacific region, focusing on ensuring adequate, reliable, affordable, safe, and rapid energy supply.
On the sidelines of the forum, Minister Iqbal Hassan Mahmud is expected to hold bilateral meetings with delegations from the United States, Japan, Brunei and other participating countries.
He is also scheduled to meet representatives of several international non-governmental organizations to explore opportunities for foreign investment in Bangladesh’s energy sector and identify new areas for mutual cooperation.
