Mymensingh, Feb 01 (V7N) — Army Chief General Waqar-uz-Zaman on Sunday laid the foundation stone of the landmark sports project ‘Olympic Village’ in Trishal, Mymensingh.

At the start of his visit, the Army Chief addressed a view-sharing meeting at the Mymensingh City Corporation conference room on conducting the upcoming national elections peacefully, impartially, and fairly. Senior military officers from the Mymensingh Division, law enforcement personnel, and civil administration officials attended the meeting.

During the session, General Waqar emphasized that army members must maintain professionalism, impartiality, discipline, and patience while performing election duties. He added that citizen-friendly behavior is essential to gain the trust of the public.

He also inspected various activities of army personnel deployed under the ‘In Aid to the Civil Power’ operation and provided guidance for improved performance.

Later, acting as the President of the Bangladesh Olympic Association (BOA), General Waqar laid the foundation stone of the proposed Olympic Village in Trishal. He expressed hope that the project would significantly enhance the country’s sports infrastructure and contribute to producing international-class athletes.
