Dhaka, Jan 04 (V7N)- Newly appointed Chief Justice Zubair Rahman Chowdhury has sought the cooperation of all concerned to reduce the backlog of cases in the judiciary.

He made the remarks at a reception programme organized at the Supreme Court on Sunday (January 4) morning.

The Chief Justice said that effective steps would be taken to prevent corruption within the judiciary, emphasizing the need for transparency and accountability to restore public confidence in the justice system.

Speaking at the event, Acting Attorney General Arshadur Rouf urged the Chief Justice to launch a clean drive to free the judiciary from what he described as syndicates. He also alleged that injustice was carried out in the name of justice during the previous Awami League era.

Meanwhile, Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) President Mahbub Uddin Khokon said that the bail business in lower courts must be stopped. He also called for stern action against police officers who submit false charge sheets, terming such practices harmful to the justice delivery system.

Senior judges, lawyers, and legal professionals were present at the programme.
