Dhaka, Dec 27 (V7N)- A total of 8 lakh 872 voters have registered to cast postal votes in the upcoming 13th National Parliament Election and Referendum, according to the latest data on the Election Commission (EC) website.

The registration includes expatriate Bangladeshis, government employees, and officials engaged in electoral duties who are registering through the ‘Postal Vote BD’ app. Of the registered voters, 7,28,617 are male and 72,253 are female.

Among expatriates, the highest number of registrants is from Saudi Arabia (1,62,993), followed by Qatar (59,582), Oman (46,143), Malaysia (43,829), the United Arab Emirates (30,874), and the United States (26,073). Within Bangladesh, 244,661 voters have registered under the ‘in-country postal vote’ category.

District-wise, Comilla leads with 71,143 voters, followed by Dhaka (63,595), Chittagong (61,703), Noakhali (40,741), Sylhet (30,089) and Chandpur (28,315).

Constituency-wise, Feni-3 has the highest number with 11,793 voters, followed by Chittagong-15 (9,811), Comilla-10 (9,466), and Noakhali-1 (9,365).

The EC has extended the registration deadline to December 31. Expatriates from 148 countries can register through the app, which was launched on November 18. Expatriate voters must use a mobile number from the respective country to complete the registration.

This postal voting process allows voters residing abroad or outside their constituencies to participate in the electoral process, ensuring broader voter participation in the national elections.
