Dhaka, Dec 15 (V7N) — Police have arrested two more individuals in connection with the attempted murder of Inqilab Manch spokesperson Sharif Osman Hadi, bringing the total number of arrests to eight, officials said.
A case was filed at Paltan Police Station early Sunday midnight, two days after the incident, under multiple sections including attempt to murder, organized crime, and use of firearms.
Among those arrested are Abdul Hannan, the owner of the motorcycle used in the attack, Samia, wife of the main accused Faisal Mahmud Karim, Faisal’s brother-in-law Shipu, and Shipu’s girlfriend Maria, police said.
The case was filed by Abdullah Al Jaber, member secretary of Inqilab Manch, naming Chhatra League leader Faisal Mahmud Karim along with several unidentified individuals as accused.
Inspector Yasin Mia of Paltan Police Station has been appointed as the investigating officer in the case.
Sharif Osman Hadi, convener of Inqilab Manch and a potential candidate for the Dhaka-8 constituency, was shot by miscreants in the Bijoynagar area of the capital on Friday afternoon.
He is currently undergoing treatment at Evercare Hospital, where doctors say his condition remains critical.
Police said further investigations are underway and operations are continuing to arrest all those involved in the incident.
