Habiganj, Nov 24 (V7N)- Dr. Mohammad Abdul Momen, Chairman of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), said that the ACC has been weakened over time and now the institution must be restored to full strength.
He made the remarks during a public hearing organized by the ACC’s integrated district office at the Habiganj District Shilpakala Academy on Monday afternoon.
The ACC chairman highlighted that although election candidates are required to declare their assets, political leaders often submit partial information and hide the rest. He stressed the need for awareness and strict monitoring to prevent such practices and urged members of the advisory council to submit full asset declarations.
Dr. Momen also noted that recovering laundered money remains difficult. While several institutions, including the ACC and Bangladesh Bank, are collaborating, the progress so far has been unsatisfactory.
