Dhaka, Nov 16 (V7N) — Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasiruddin has called for full cooperation from all political parties to ensure that the upcoming 13th National Parliament elections are free, fair and widely acceptable.
He made the remarks on Sunday during the second day of the Election Commission’s ongoing dialogue with registered political parties.
The EC began the day’s session at 10 am, holding discussions with six parties: Gano Forum, Gano Front, Islamic Front Bangladesh, Islami Oikya Jote, Bangladesh Supreme Party (BSP) and Bangladesh Jatiya Party.
In his opening statement, the CEC stressed that the commission would take recommendations from political parties to create a level playing field. He noted that the fairness of the election depends largely on strict enforcement of the electoral code of conduct and urged all political groups to adhere to the rules.
After a two-hour break, the EC will resume discussions from 2 pm to 4 pm with the remaining six parties scheduled for the day: Bangladesh Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal, Bangladesh National Awami Party, Trinamool BNP, Krishak Sramik Janata League, Bangladesh Khelafat Majlish and Islami Andolan Bangladesh.
