Chittagong, Oct 25 (V7N) — Bangladesh is set to receive its first shipment of wheat imported from the United States today. The Panamanian-flagged vessel MV Norse Stride is scheduled to arrive at the Chittagong outer anchorage on Saturday afternoon.

The ship, brought under the Government-to-Government (G2G) system, is carrying 57,000 metric tons of wheat. A further 186,000 tons will be imported from the United States in subsequent phases.

Testing of wheat samples stored on the ship has already begun, and authorities have prepared necessary measures to expedite the unloading process.

Of the total 56,959 metric tons on board, 34,170 metric tons will be unloaded at Chittagong port, while the remaining 22,789 metric tons will be transported to Mongla Port.
