New York, Oct 8 (V7N) — Expatriates from Greater Noakhali, now residing across the United States, held a human chain in New York calling for Noakhali to be declared a separate administrative division of Bangladesh.
The demonstration took place on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at 7 p.m. local time at Diversity Plaza in Jackson Heights, New York City. A large number of Bangladeshi expatriates from the Greater Noakhali region joined the rally, voicing their support for the long-standing demand for administrative recognition.

The event was presided over by community leader Masud Rana, with Zakir H. Chowdhury attending as the chief guest. Jahangir Sarwardi and Motahar Hossain were present as special guests, while Mosiur Rahman Rubel conducted the proceedings.
Speakers emphasized Noakhali’s historic legacy, its significant population, and its economic contributions to Bangladesh’s southeastern region. They stated that forming a separate Noakhali Division would promote administrative decentralization, equitable development, and improved government service delivery for residents.
Participants urged the Government of Bangladesh to take swift action toward officially recognizing Greater Noakhali as a new division. The gathering concluded with a renewed commitment from expatriates to continue their campaign peacefully and raise greater awareness among the Bangladeshi diaspora across the United States.
