Dhaka, Oct 07 (V7N) – Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin has said that the Election Commission aims to strengthen itself not just through internal discussions, but by incorporating the advice of election experts.
Speaking during a dialogue with election experts on Tuesday (October 7), the CEC remarked, “At the age of 73, there is nothing more to ask for. This is my last chance to do something for the country.”
He later shared details of the discussion, which took place as political parties continue talks over the formation of a consensus commission.
Highlighting recent developments, Nasir Uddin said that the EC has removed around 2.13 million deceased voters from the list and added 3.5 million new eligible voters. He noted that the gender gap between male and female voters — previously about 3 million — is expected to narrow significantly.
“The Election Commission is embracing many new initiatives,” he added, “and with them come new challenges that we must face responsibly.”
