Jhenaidah, Oct 03 (V7N) – Attorney General Md. Asaduzzaman has said there is no legal obstacle to implementing the July Charter, affirming that it will move forward in line with the recommendations of the National Consensus Commission.

Speaking to local journalists at the Johan Dream Valley Park Auditorium in Jhenaidah on Friday, the Attorney General said that during the Awami League regime, constitutional institutions were rendered ineffective. He clarified, however, that officials in the administration who were not involved in major crimes would continue to serve in the interest of the country and the state.

“Those who were involved in crimes on the orders of the Awami League will be taken into account. The government will take legal decisions after considering the nature of their crimes,” he said.

Earlier, the Jhenaidah Journalist Forum in Dhaka held a meeting presided over by Asif Kajal, President of the District Press Club.

The event was attended by District BNP President Advocate MA Majid, Mehedi Hasan Palash, President of Jhenaidah Journalists' Association in Dhaka, Shahnaz Begum Poli, General Secretary, Shahnewaz Khan Sumon, Organizing Secretary, Md. Moazzem Hossain, President of Jhenaidah Chamber of Commerce, and Anwarul Islam Badsha, President of District Shop Owners’ Association. The discussion was moderated by District Press Club Vice President Asif Iqbal Makhon and General Secretary Aminul Islam Liton.
