Magura, Sep 12 (V7N) – The national election will be held by February 15, confirmed Shafiqul Alam, Press Secretary to the Chief Advisor, stressing that differences among political parties will not affect the timeline.
Speaking to journalists during his visit to the ancestral home of Muslim Renaissance poet Farrukh Ahmed in Sreepur Upazila, Magura, on Friday (Sept 12), Shafiqul Alam said:
“If there is a party, there will be differences of opinion. Otherwise, why would there be different parties? But we are saying again, the election will be held by February 15.”
Rejecting speculation of any delay, he asserted, “No one will succeed in trying to sabotage the election. There is no possibility of postponing it. The election will take place in the first half of February. This is the commitment of our interim government.”
Later, the Press Secretary exchanged views with leaders of traditional religions, assuring that the government is on the highest alert to ensure a peaceful Durga Puja across the country.
