Dhaka, Aug 18 (V7N) – The government has suspended 18 senior police officers, including former Detective Branch (DB) chief of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Mohammad Harun Or Rashid, on charges of absconding from duty.
The Public Safety Division of the Ministry of Home Affairs issued a notification on Monday stating that the officers have been suspended under Sub-rule (1) of Rule 12 of the Government Servants (Discipline and Appeal) Rules, 2018. The notification cited that the officials are accused of committing a punishable offence under Section 3(c) of the same rules.
Among the suspended are three DIGs, six Additional DIGs, four Superintendents of Police (SPs), four Additional SPs, and one Assistant SP.

The order also stated that the suspended officers will be entitled to food allowance during their suspension. The Home Ministry clarified that the action was taken in the public interest.
