Dhaka, July 12 (V7N) – Home Affairs Advisor Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has assured that those involved in the brutal murder near Mitford Hospital will be brought to justice. He stated that law enforcement agencies are actively working to arrest all individuals connected to the incident.
He made these remarks during a visit to the Dhaka District Police Lines and Reserve Force offices on Saturday morning.
Referring to the killing of businessman Lal Chand alias Sohag, the advisor said, “The law enforcement agencies are taking action. Those responsible will not be spared.” However, he also noted that while delays in the judicial process are often criticized, they are not solely the fault of law enforcement agencies.
“It is true that law enforcement is not always playing a fully neutral role. We must address this,” he said.
Calling the incident “deeply unfortunate for a civilized country,” Jahangir Alam stressed the need to foster tolerance in society. “We have become an intolerant nation. This must change. From policymakers to parents, teachers, doctors—everyone must play a responsible role in preventing such violence,” he added.
He also commented on a separate incident in Chandpur, saying that arrests have already been made in connection with that case. He urged the public not to take the law into their own hands under any circumstances.
Earlier, on Wednesday evening around 6 PM, Sohag was hacked and bludgeoned to death in broad daylight on Rajni Ghosh Lane near Gate No. 3 of Mitford Hospital. A shocking video of the killing went viral on social media, triggering widespread outrage and calls for swift justice.
