Dhaka, July 03 (V7N) — There is no specific security threat centering this year’s holy Ashura, and all necessary safety measures have been implemented, said Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Acting Commissioner Md. Sarwar.

He made these remarks on Thursday after inspecting security arrangements at the historic Lalbagh Hussaini Dalan Imambara ahead of 10 Muharram (Ashura), to be observed on July 6.

“We have ensured adequate security at all Shia religious establishments in the capital. Area-based check posts have been reinforced,” said Md. Sarwar.

Enhanced Vigilance and Traffic Advisory

The Acting Commissioner said that CCTV cameras, watch towers, and other surveillance mechanisms have been installed along all routes of the Tazia processions. He urged the public to avoid these routes during the day to minimize inconvenience.

Additionally, he outlined restrictions aimed at ensuring a peaceful observance:

  • No crackers or fireworks will be allowed in the procession.

  • Carrying of metal objects or flammable materials is prohibited.

  • Participants are requested to avoid loud noises, and processions should conclude before evening.

Md. Sarwar assured citizens that the DMP is fully prepared to ensure the sanctity and security of Ashura commemorations across the city.
