Dhaka, July 1 (V7N) — Chief Advisor of the interim government, Dr. Muhammad Yunus, said that the essence of the historic July Movement was to eliminate fascism and establish a new Bangladesh, and the government is working to ensure that tyranny never rises again.

He made these remarks on Monday morning during the inauguration of a month-long program commemorating the July Uprising, held at the office of the Chief Advisor.

“Sixteen years later, we declared rebellion through the July uprising and were able to achieve our immediate target. But behind that, there was a much bigger dream — to build a new state system,” said Dr. Yunus.

He stressed that the government will celebrate this time every year to ensure the spirit of the uprising remains alive and to act decisively at any sign of tyranny. “We don’t want to wait another 16 years to mark this day. If any sign of oppression appears, we must be ready to eliminate it at once,” he added.

Paying tribute to the participants of the July Movement, Dr. Yunus said, “The agenda we are announcing today is not just a beginning but a new oath. We want to strengthen the unity that brought together people from all walks of life during last year’s uprising.”

He noted that the program aims to raise public awareness about democratic rights, civic responsibilities in politics, and the sacrifices made for the nation’s freedom.

“The road ahead is difficult, but filled with immense potential. History shows that when the people awaken, no force can stand in their way,” said the Chief Advisor, calling on all citizens to make this July a month of mass awakening and national unity.
