Muradnagar, Jun 09 (V7N) — The Election Commission will issue a detailed roadmap shortly, considering the possibility of holding elections in the first half of April. This was stated by Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives (LGRD) Advisor Asif Mahmud Sajeeb Bhuiyan on Monday morning.

Speaking to journalists after exchanging Eid greetings with the public at Jahapur Bazar in Muradnagar Upazila, Comilla, Bhuiyan emphasized the importance of timely elections to restore local government services.

He noted that most public services are delivered through local government bodies, and the absence of elected representatives has disrupted these services for a long time. “This is a matter of concern for us. Despite efforts to implement public welfare programs, we have been unable to provide everyday services effectively due to the lack of local representatives,” he said.

Bhuiyan added that the government has always supported organizing local elections and that the matter involves many complexities. “We will assess how much can be achieved and may request the Election Commission to conduct elections based on government decisions,” he stated.

Comilla District Superintendent of Police Mohammad Nazir Ahmed Khan, Additional Deputy Commissioner Pankaj Padua, Muradnagar Upazila Executive Officer Md. Abdur Rahman, and other senior administrative officials were present during the event.
