Foreign Minister Hasan Mahmud of Bangladesh is currently in Jeddah to participate in an extraordinary meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Council of Foreign Ministers. The gathering aims to address the ongoing Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people.

Hosted at the headquarters of the OIC's General Secretariat in Jeddah, the meeting convenes representatives from member countries to discuss strategies and actions to counter the relentless Israeli attacks on Palestinians.

Ambassador Samir Bakr, Assistant Secretary-General for Palestine and Al-Quds Affairs, highlighted the recent massacre perpetrated by Israeli forces, underscoring the urgent need for international legal action to hold Israel accountable for its war crimes. The meeting aims to draft a resolution to be presented for adoption during the session.

OIC Secretary-General Hissein Brahim Taha is expected to deliver the opening address, reaffirming the organization's commitment to addressing the humanitarian crisis in Palestine.

The meeting follows previous efforts by the OIC to stop Israeli aggression, including an extraordinary joint Arab and Islamic Summit held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, last November. During this summit, a committee of foreign ministers was tasked with advocating for an end to Israeli aggression through diplomatic channels.

Foreign Minister Hasan Mahmud has been actively engaged in international forums to address the situation in Gaza. During the Antalya Diplomacy Forum in Turkey, he emphasized the urgent need for collective action to halt the genocide and hold Israel accountable for its atrocities. Hasan highlighted the Forum's potential to mobilize global efforts to address the crisis and stressed the importance of united action against Israeli aggression.

The Foreign Minister's participation in the Forum underscores Bangladesh's commitment to advocating for peace and justice in the region. The event, attended by heads of state, government officials, diplomats, and other stakeholders, provided a platform for discussions on advancing diplomacy amidst turmoil.

As the OIC meeting progresses, stakeholders anticipate concrete measures to address the humanitarian crisis in Palestine and mitigate the impact of Israeli aggression on civilians.
