In a bid to address the soaring prices of essential protein sources, the government has revealed plans to introduce discounted rates for beef, mutton, chicken, and eggs across various locations in Dhaka starting from March 10. This decision, announced by Fisheries and Livestock Minister Md Abdur Rahman, aims to alleviate the financial burden on consumers, especially with Ramadan approaching.
Minister Rahman emphasized the significance of ensuring affordability for these items during the upcoming month of Ramadan. "We are initiating the sale of these essential commodities at reduced prices, commencing March 10, in anticipation of Ramadan," he stated during the Deputy Commissioners' Conference held at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium in Dhaka.
As part of the initiative, beef will be offered at Tk600 per kilogram, mutton at Tk900 per kilogram, dressed broiler chicken at Tk280 per kilogram, and each egg at Tk10.
These discounted products will be made available at designated locations throughout Dhaka, facilitated through mobile vendors. The sale will continue until the eve of Eid-ul-Fitr, ensuring accessibility to affordable protein sources for consumers during the festive period.
