UKHIYA, Sept 15 (V7N) — A six-year-old Rohingya child was killed after being hit by a truck at Rohingya Camp-1 East in Ukhiya, Cox’s Bazar, on Monday afternoon.

The deceased was identified as Mohammad Ziad, son of Latif Khan and a resident of the G-4 sub-block of the camp. The accident occurred at around 5:00pm, according to local community sources.

The child reportedly died at around 5:15pm, approximately 15 minutes after the accident, while efforts were being made to rescue him.

Local sources said Ziad sustained critical injuries in the accident and died shortly afterward.

Azim Uddin is the majhi, or block leader, of the area.

Ukhiya Police Station Officer-in-Charge Atikur Rahman said he had heard about the death of a Rohingya child in a road accident at the camp.

“I have heard about the incident. I will need to obtain detailed information before making further comments,” he said.
