Washington, Oct 03 (V7N)- US President Donald Trump has said European countries have agreed to release a large amount of diesel from their stockpiles in an effort to ease pressure on fuel prices.

Trump made the remarks in a post on Truth Social on Friday, saying the process would begin immediately.

“Europe has a lot of diesel,” Trump said, while describing the move as a positive development in relations between the United States and Europe.

Asked whether a possible European ban on diesel exports had been ruled out, Trump said such a ban had never been seriously considered and praised Europe’s decision to release fuel from its reserves.

Trump had said on Thursday that he could ask European countries to release part of their diesel stocks to help bring down fuel prices.

His comments came after G7 leaders agreed to begin the process of releasing 100 million barrels of oil from emergency reserves over four months amid rising prices and volatility in global energy markets.

The planned release is intended to increase supplies in the international market as governments respond to concerns over energy prices and supply disruptions.
