Salalah, Sep 14 (V7N)- Oman has postponed a regional meeting scheduled for Monday in the southern city of Salalah to discuss a proposed new maritime route through the Strait of Hormuz.
Anadolu Agency reported the development, citing Oman’s Foreign Ministry.
The Omani Foreign Ministry announced the postponement late Sunday, saying the decision was aimed at creating an environment conducive to constructive dialogue.
According to the ministry, the move is intended to help establish conditions for discussions that could lead to a sustainable understanding, while supporting regional security and stability and promoting cooperation and peace among countries in the region.
Omani Foreign Minister Badr Albusaidi also confirmed the postponement in a post on X on Sunday.
He said the regional meeting scheduled for Monday in Salalah had been postponed in the interest of consensus and reiterated Oman’s commitment to encouraging dialogue aimed at promoting stability and long-term regional cooperation.
Albusaidi did not announce a new date for the meeting or provide further details about the reasons behind the postponement.
The decision came a day after Bahrain declined to participate in a proposed regional ministerial meeting that was expected to include Iran.
