Gaza, Sep 14 (V7N)- The bodies of 17 Palestinians have been recovered from the rubble of homes destroyed in Israeli attacks in Gaza, according to the Palestinian Civil Defense Department.
Anadolu Agency reported the development on Sunday, citing Gaza’s Civil Defense Department.
The recovery operations were conducted as part of the second phase of a project launched on July 19 to locate Palestinians buried beneath buildings destroyed during Israel’s military operations in the Gaza Strip.
Despite having limited equipment and heavy machinery, rescue teams successfully recovered the bodies from several locations.
According to the Civil Defense Department, the remains of 16 missing Palestinians were recovered from the ruins of homes belonging to the Hajji and Al-Nadim families in the Zeitoun and Yarmouk neighborhoods of Gaza City.
The body of another missing Palestinian was recovered from the rubble of the Al-War family home in the Nuseirat refugee camp.
Although a ceasefire agreement has been in effect in Gaza since October 10, 2025, recovery operations have progressed slowly because of a shortage of heavy equipment.
Palestinian authorities have said the ceasefire agreement includes provisions allowing machinery to enter Gaza to clear destroyed buildings and recover bodies from beneath the rubble.
In October 2025, Gaza’s government media office reported that approximately 9,500 Palestinians had been reported missing since the beginning of Israel’s war in the territory.
