Sana'a, Sep 08 (V7N)- At least seven people, including children, have been killed in an airstrike on a correctional facility in northern Yemen. The Houthi rebel group has accused Saudi Arabia of carrying out the attack.
The strike took place Monday (September 7) at a correctional facility in Al-Jawf province, near the Saudi border. Houthi-controlled Al-Masirah TV released footage purportedly showing the aftermath of the attack.
According to the Houthis, seven other people were seriously injured in the bombing. The main building of the facility collapsed, with rescue teams continuing efforts to search for people trapped under the rubble.
The Houthi group accused Saudi Arabia of carrying out what it described as attacks in the Al-Jawf area, using surveillance drones and providing weapons to armed groups.
The Houthis also claimed to have attacked a Saudi truck carrying military equipment at a checkpoint near the border with Hadramaut province.
Saudi authorities have not immediately commented on the allegations or the reported airstrike.
