Ottawa, Sep 07 (V7N)- Canada has pledged to coordinate with international allies to maintain economic sanctions and pressure on Iran, Anadolu Agency reported.
Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand and Finance Minister François-Philippe Champagne condemned Iran's actions and called on Tehran to immediately end what they described as destabilizing activities in the Middle East.
The ministers cited Iran's alleged threats to shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, its nuclear activities and support for regional proxy groups.
They said Canada is working closely with G7 partners, as well as France and the United Kingdom, to support efforts led by the United States to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
Ottawa will continue working with international partners to pursue additional measures aimed at pressuring Iran to end what the ministers described as its "malign behavior."
Iran has not immediately responded to Canada's allegations.
