Russia, Aug 07 (V7N) - Ukrainian drones struck a warehouse belonging to Russian e-commerce giant Wildberries in Yekaterinburg on Friday, hundreds of miles from the frontline, marking the latest in a series of attacks on the company's facilities.
"Firefighters have been deployed to the company's logistics centre in Yekaterinburg… where a fire broke out as a result of an attack," Wildberries said in a statement, adding that all staff had been moved to safety. Regional governor Denis Pasler confirmed that three drones crashed into the warehouse roof early Friday but reported no casualties in the city, which lies more than 2,000 kilometers from the Ukrainian border.
Since mid-July, Ukraine has struck around 20 Wildberries sites. The online retail platform is often described as Russia's Amazon.
The attack comes more than four years into Russia's large-scale offensive against Ukraine, with diplomacy at a standstill and both countries intensifying long-range strikes, resulting in growing civilian casualties.
