Washington, Aug. 1 (V7N) – The United States and Israel are reportedly preparing for a possible large-scale military operation targeting Iran's energy infrastructure, with the strikes potentially taking place within the coming weeks, according to a CBS News report cited by Anadolu Agency.
The report, published on Friday (July 31), said discussions on the issue took place during a meeting between US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. According to CBS News, the talks included the possibility of ending military operations due to concerns over broader economic consequences, although no specific timetable was agreed upon.
The report said Israel has been informed about the preparations and is coordinating with Washington. However, President Trump has not yet given final approval for any military action.
An unnamed Israeli official told CBS News that Israel is unaware of any decision to resume full-scale military operations and has not been formally asked to participate in an attack against Iran.
Speaking during a cabinet meeting at Camp David, Trump said, "We will hit Iran very hard. At some point, they will say, 'We can't take it anymore.'"
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said the United States would prevail and reiterated that the Trump administration would not allow Iran to obtain a nuclear weapon.
According to the report, potential targets under consideration include Iranian power plants and oil refineries. US officials are also reportedly assessing options that could disrupt electricity supplies to Tehran.
Neither the White House nor Israeli authorities have officially announced any decision to launch military strikes against Iran, and the reported plans have not been independently confirmed.
