Tehran, July 29 (V7N)- Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has claimed that it seized three oil tankers in the Strait of Hormuz after the vessels allegedly ignored its warnings.
According to Anadolu Agency, the IRGC made the announcement in a statement on Wednesday, saying the three ships were detained a few hours earlier.
The IRGC said the vessels failed to comply with its warnings and added that what it described as the "illegal interference and directives" of the United States in the region would not go unanswered.
However, the statement did not disclose the identities, ownership, flag states or exact locations of the seized tankers, nor did it specify the legal grounds for their detention.
The reported seizure comes amid heightened tensions between the United States and Iran. In recent weeks, both sides have exchanged military actions, with the United States launching strikes on Iran and Tehran claiming retaliatory operations targeting US military installations and equipment across the region.
The claims made by the IRGC could not be independently verified, and there was no immediate response from US authorities or the owners of the vessels.
