Jerusalem, Jun 08 (V7N) – Israeli military spokesman Effie Defrin has warned that Iran made a “grave mistake” by launching missiles toward Israel, as tensions between the two regional rivals continue to escalate.
In a televised statement on Sunday night, Defrin confirmed that missiles had been fired from Iran toward Israeli territory and said Israel's air defense systems were actively working to intercept the incoming threats.
“The terrorist regime of Iran launched missiles at Israeli territory a short while ago. We were prepared,” Defrin said. “The Israel Defense Forces are strongly prepared to repel the attack. Iran has made another grave mistake. They have chosen terrorism.”
The military spokesman also stated that Israel would continue its operations against Hezbollah, but did not clarify whether Israel was preparing immediate retaliatory action against Iran.
The latest developments come amid growing regional tensions and fears of a broader conflict involving Israel, Iran and Iran-backed armed groups across the Middle East.
Earlier, Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir issued a stark warning on social media platform X, writing: “Tehran will burn overnight.”
Israeli authorities have not yet released detailed information regarding the number of missiles launched, the effectiveness of interception efforts, or any casualties and damage resulting from the attack.
The situation remains highly volatile as military and political leaders across the region closely monitor further developments.
