New York, May 12 (V7N) — A senior United States diplomat has publicly confirmed that the United Arab Emirates used Israel’s Iron Dome missile defense system during the recent conflict with Iran.
Speaking at an Independence Day event hosted by the Israeli mission in New York on Tuesday (May 12), Mike Waltz, the US Ambassador to the United Nations, said the Emirates used the Israeli-provided defense system to intercept missiles launched from Iran.
“We have seen the UAE using the Iron Dome system provided by Israel,” Waltz said during the event.
According to The Times of Israel, a source present at the gathering also confirmed the remarks made by the US envoy.
Earlier, in April, US media outlet Axios reported that Israel had sent an Iron Dome battery along with military personnel to the UAE in anticipation of possible escalation in the region. The report was later corroborated by several Arab diplomats in the Middle East.
The Iron Dome is one of Israel’s most advanced air defense systems, designed to intercept short-range rockets and missiles. The reported deployment reflects growing regional security cooperation amid heightened tensions involving Iran.
