May 07 (V7N)- A Ukrainian attack on residential buildings in Russia’s border city of Bryansk wounded 13 people, including a child, regional governor Aleksandr Bogomaz said Thursday.
The overnight strike hit the Bezhitsky district, damaging two apartment blocks, more than 20 flats, and around 40 vehicles, Bogomaz reported on Telegram. The incident comes just before Russia’s planned unilateral ceasefire with Ukraine on May 8–9, timed to coincide with Moscow’s World War II Victory Day commemorations.
Ukraine had proposed its own ceasefire for May 6, which Russia ignored. Meanwhile, Moscow mayor Sergei Sobianin said three drones flying toward the capital were destroyed Thursday.
In Ukraine, one person was wounded in a Russian strike on Dnipro, according to regional head Oleksandr Ganzha. Russia also warned foreign diplomats in Kyiv that it would launch a “retaliatory strike” on the capital if Ukraine disrupted its commemorations.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky accused Moscow of rejecting efforts to halt fighting and save lives, underscoring the fragile state of negotiations as both sides prepare for symbolic dates.
