Dhaka, Apr 09 (V7N) – For the first time, Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi held important telephone talks amid ongoing tensions in the Gulf region.
According to a statement from the Saudi Foreign Ministry on Thursday, the two sides reviewed the latest developments in the Gulf crisis and exchanged views on ways to reduce tensions and restore regional security and stability.
The talks came shortly after Iran attacked Saudi Arabia’s East-West Pipeline, which serves as the kingdom’s primary crude oil export route. Reuters reported that the strike occurred just hours after a ceasefire agreement was signed.
The Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps confirmed in a statement that on Wednesday it had launched missile and drone strikes on several targets in the region, including oil installations operated by US companies in Yanbu, Saudi Arabia.
