Sydney, Nov 30 (V7N) – Two light aircraft collided in mid-air near Sydney, the capital of New South Wales, on Sunday morning. One of the aircraft crashed, killing its pilot, while the other landed safely, ABC News reported.
The cause of the collision is not yet known. State police said rescuers discovered the body of the pilot from the crashed aircraft in bushland near Wedderburn Airport, southwest of Sydney. The other aircraft was able to land safely, and its pilot was unharmed.
Investigators from the Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB) are collecting evidence from the accident site to determine the cause of the collision.
In a statement, the ATSB urged the public to avoid the area while the investigation is ongoing.
