Jakarta, Nov 27 (V7N) — Indonesia experienced another earthquake as a 5.1-magnitude tremor struck North Nias Regency in North Sumatra just after midnight on Wednesday. Authorities confirmed that no casualties or damage were reported.

According to the US Geological Survey (USGS), the quake’s epicenter was located 29 km south of Tandano in North Sulawesi, at a shallow depth of 10 kilometers.

Earlier, on Sunday (November 23), a 5.2-magnitude earthquake rattled Halmahera in North Maluku Province, also without causing any reported damage or injuries.

Indonesia frequently experiences earthquakes as it lies along the Pacific Ocean’s “Ring of Fire,” where multiple major tectonic plates meet and create intense seismic activity.
